Connected and Rooted: Some practical questions to discuss and ponder.

In both our adult Sunday school time and Worship time my messages dealt with us being “connected and rooted.”

Being connected to Jesus came from John 15:1-3 and being rooted in His Body came from Colossians 2:1-7.

Since our LifeGroups were not meeting this week, I thought I might just share a few questions from this lesson. I would encourage you to take the time this week to discuss these with others or ponder them yourself.

Connected:

  1. How does understanding Jesus as “the vine” change your perspective on your relationship with God?
  2. In what ways have you experienced God’s “pruning” in your life? How did it affect your spiritual growth?
  3. Since some of the branches connected to the vine are “false believers,” how can we ensure we are genuinely connected to Christ and not just going through the motions?

Rooted:

  1. In verse 7, Paul talks about being “rooted and built up” in Christ. What are some practical ways we can strengthen our spiritual roots to build our faith?
  2. Paul mentions in this passage being “established in the faith.” How can we ensure that our faith remains strong and unwavering, especially during challenging times?
  3. Reflect on times when your faith was strong and then on times when it was weak. What factors contributed to each state, and how did you navigate through the weak times?

Next week we will jump back into our study in Acts, picking up where we left off with the Apostle Paul under guard in Caesarea.

Our text will be Acts chapter 25 as Paul goes to another trial, this time before another Roman governor named Porcius Festus.
