I am thrilled at the announcement our elders made this past Wednesday about our upcoming September to Remember event on September 22^nd.

Their announcement was to lead us as a congregation to focus on our core mission by narrowing the scope and focus of the event.

Instead of stretching our resources thin and trying to show the community our love through a big event, in wisdom they decided we should focus our efforts on bringing friends, family, and neighbors to church with us.

Yet even still, with great foresight they also could see the need to show others we are not just a bunch of “stick-in-the-mud” robots going through a bunch of religious motions.

On Sunday September 22^nd, not only will we have the opportunity to bring people to Sunday School and Worship, we will still have a special children’s worship that will include an exciting puppet show. We also will still have the opportunity to connect and show others our love and humility as a community of believers by offering them a meal after the services, and having fun games and activities for all the children and youth.

We also still plan on having some entertainment for the adults as we enjoy watching the activities after lunch. Lunch will be provided under a tent so that we can all be in one place with some great time of fellowship.

The original vision is still the focus which remains to be able to “Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ while introducing new families to Cumberland by showing them our love and humility so that they may find Cumberland a suitable church home.”

Reaching our attendance goal of 150-200 people for worship is doable. All that is needed is for each of us to bring 1 person. Plan on introducing me to your 1 that day. If they are special enough for you to want to invite them, then I want to meet them.
