There Are Lessons To Learn
From the Pastor
So, we made it through the presidential election cycle this year. It is amazing to me that we are now at a place in time when that alone seems something to celebrate.
One of the big takeaways I had from this election was the realization that thankfully many of our fellow Americans have stopped paying attention to the “chattering class.”
For months on end we have been told everyone is racist, bigoted, homophobic, misogynistic, etc., and as it turns out people of every race, sex, color, and creed had become wary of the lies they were being told.
I say this to point out the possible importance of this moment as it relates to the Church. As people wake up and become aware that the “ruling class” is not always looking out for their best interest, they also become interested in new solutions to life’s problems.
This means we have a window of opportunity to share with them the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, we need to realize these same people may be on guard of people “in authority.” This means they may not listen as easily to a preacher or pastor as they will listen to a family member, friend, or co-worker.
The Church needs to take every opportunity we are given to show others the mercy that God has shown us.
